V3 Lift
The 3 Key Factors for Improving the Under Eye Area: Volume. Vector. Vibrance.
Comprehensive Lower Eyelid rejuvenation
The V3-LIFT is a comprehensive approach to lower blepharoplasty, combining three complementary techniques to achieve a natural and powerful transformation of the periocular area. The three “V’s” represent:
Volume
Through a small incision inside the lower eyelid, the herniated fat is carefully accessed and redistributed into a space created beneath the retaining ligament that defines the lower edge of the eyelid bag. This procedure reduces the appearance of the bag and evenly fills the area underneath, creating a smooth transition between eyelid and cheek and achieving a natural and rejuvenating effect. When there is not sufficient fat present in the lower lid to fill the hollow underneath, fat grafting through lipofilling can be added to this.
Vector
When there is sagging skin or muscle in the lower eyelid, the V3-LIFT allows repositioning of the outer corner of the eyelid through a very small incision. This lift repositions the tissues into a more youthful alignment using a superolateral vector, creating a natural lifting effect without altering facial expression.
Vibrance
For patients with fine lines or dull skin in the lower eyelid, CO2 laser resurfacing can be performed on the eyelids and adjacent areas. This improves skin texture, leaving it firmer, brighter, and healthier in appearance. Learn how CO2 laser works and what it can do for you.
Combined, these techniques achieve a comprehensive rejuvenation of the lower eyelid, providing volume, natural lift, and skin improvement in a single procedure. Many patients from Spain and abroad have sought out Dr. van der Veen for this specific procedure.

What can I do before surgery to optimize results?
To achieve the best possible results, it is important to follow these recommendations before surgery:
Discontinue anticoagulants: If you are taking blood-thinning medication, it is crucial to stop several days before surgery, always under medical supervision. The washout period depends on the specific medication, so follow your doctor’s instructions.
Adequate rest: Avoid physical activity and sleep with your head slightly elevated during the first week to reduce post-operative swelling and minimise the risk of significant hematoma formation.
Healthy diet: Consume a varied, balanced diet and avoid ultra-processed foods. If desired, we can arrange a video call with our nutrition specialist.
Quit smoking: It is recommended to stop smoking at least a few weeks before surgery. Smoking interferes with healing and can increase the risk of complications.
Postoperative care
After V3-LIFT surgery, it is essential to follow certain guidelines to ensure a fast and complication-free recovery:
Rest and relaxation: Avoid intense physical activity, lifting heavy objects, or doing household chores for at least 5–7 days. Physical exertion increases blood pressure, which can cause bleeding or hematomas affecting results.
Apply cold compresses: During the first 72 hours, applying cold compresses to the eyelids will help reduce swelling and bruising. Do this for several minutes every hour.
Use antibiotic ointment: Your surgeon will prescribe an antibiotic ointment to be applied twice a day over the surgical wounds and inside the eyes for the first 7–10 days.
Avoid sun exposure: The first 2 months after CO2-LASER treatment it´s best to avoid sun exposure in the area treated. Of this period, the first 2 weeks are especially important. During this time, but also afterwards it is important to use sunblock SPF 50 or more on a daily basis.
Recovery
Recovery from the V3 Lift is usually fast, around 7-10 days, but depends on the amount of swelling or hematoma one developes and how the skin heals after the laser treatment. The fat displacement can cause some edema and will feel a bit hard initially, but will soften over time. The laser effects will cause small crusts on the skin that usually start to fall of after day 5, but redness of the area can persist up to 2-3 weeks, in some cases longer. If sutures are placed they will be removed after approximately 7 days, after which some persistent edema will still be present but most daily activities can be resumed.
